ONTARIO JOB CREATION PARTNERSHIPS (OJCP)

Are you an individual who is unemployed and looking for a project to gain valuable work experience and skills to increase your chances of finding long-term employment? Are you an employer who wants to help your community or local economy with a project that gives work experience to unemployed Ontarians? Then OJCP may be the employment program for you!

The Ontario Job Creation Partnerships program provides funding to eligible employers (sponsors) by supporting projects that provide eligible individuals (participants) with opportunities to gain meaningful work experiences.

The program also provides financial assistance to participants participating in the program. This assistance is provided through Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or as financial support from the Province of Ontario.

Project Criteria

  • Participant(s) must gain meaningful work experience that will increase their chances of finding long term,sustainable employment;

  • Projects must not exceed 52 weeks in duration;

  • The project activities must be distinct and not part of the employer’s normal day to-day operations;

  • Activities must be finite in nature, (have a defined start and end date).

Sponsor Eligibility

The following employers can apply for funding:

  • Businesses

  • Not-for-profit organizations

  • Municipalities

  • Indigenous councils

  • Public health and educational institutions

Participant Eligibility

To be eligible for OJCP, individuals must be a resident of Ontario, unemployed and:

  • have an active Employment Insurance (EI) claim; or

  • have had an EI benefit period that ended within the previous 5 years; or

  • have paid employee premiums in at least 5 of the previous 10 years (where earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years).
